A new Digital Memorial, set up to remember police officers and staff who have died in the line of duty, has been welcomed by Civil Nuclear Police Federation.
Put together by the Police Remembrance Trust and the UK Police Memorial, the online platform brings together the Police Roll of Honour, National Police Memorial Day resources, personal tributes, educational materials and information about the UK Police Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum.
It gives us a single national place to remember the stories, service, and sacrifice of officers and staff we've lost, and to ensure they're not forgotten by future generations.
The platform holds the names of more than 4,600 officers on the national Police Roll of Honour. Two of our own are commemorated on the Digital Memorial: PC Marcus Bennett and PC Daryl Street.
PC Bennett died in 2025 after a sudden medical episode while on duty. He spent 20 years with the Harwell Operational Policing Unit, helping protect some of the UK's most sensitive nuclear sites, and was known as a highly professional firearms officer and a trusted, committed colleague.
PC Street died in 2015 following a two-vehicle collision on the A66 near Baron's Hill, while travelling home from night duty at the Sellafield Operational Policing Unit. His former colleagues and friends still remember his professionalism, commitment and service with real respect.
Every day, our members go out to do a job that makes a real difference, but sadly, not everyone gets to come home. Remembering officers like PC Bennett and PC Street for who they were and how they served matters. They were valued colleagues, and they're dearly missed by their teammates, friends and loved ones.
The Digital Memorial will help keep their stories alive and make sure their service is never forgotten. It's also a reminder of the many other members of our CNC family we've lost over the years, who might not appear on the Roll of Honour but whose contributions to this organisation deserve to be recognised all the same.
