You may recall that earlier this year, we issued an appeal to increase the number of volunteer Health & Safety reps across the force area. Local safety representatives play an important role in supporting our members by promoting safe working practices and helping to ensure that health and safety concerns are addressed at a local level.
We’re pleased to report that we had an excellent response to that appeal. Advisor to the Federation’s Exec Team, Craig Robertson, who leads on Health and Safety, explains why this matters:
“Having dedicated and qualified local safety reps in place strengthens communication between our sites and the Federation, giving members a clear point of contact for advice, support, and representation on health and safety matters. Their involvement will help us create safer and more supportive working environments.”
Craig added: “I would encourage all members to engage positively with their local safety representatives and to make full use of the support, advice and guidance they offer. By working collaboratively, we can continue to raise standards and ensure that staff wellbeing remains a priority.”
“I would also like to thank those who have stepped forward to take on these responsibilities. Your commitment and contribution are greatly appreciated”
It is important to note that Bacton and Easington are still without a designated safety representative. If you are interested in learning more about this role, please get in touch with Craig on craig.robertson@cnc.police.uk
